This Saturday I took a trip to London to the House of MinaLima in Soho to see their exhibition of Harry Potter art and graphics. It was wonderful!
The cosy, lopsided exhibition floors are accessed by a series of rickety staircases with each room revealing a treasure trove of posters, packaging, maps and books.
The first room transports your to New York and is dedicated to all things fantastical and beastly. I was so enamoured with the spellbinding take on the Deco style travel posters.
The second floor takes you to the bright and colourful Marauders room with its focus on maps, letters and packaging from across the Harry Potter series, including the acidic advertising from Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes.
Finally, under the sloping roof of the top floor you are welcomed into The Library. Two rooms, one decked out like a sitting room with beautiful prints of all the spectacularly designed book covers across the walls and the other a small press room hung with copies of the Daily Prophet.
The whole experience was beautifully constructed and a delight for any Potter fan. MinaLima are an exceptional design partnership whose work has played an integral role in defining the aesthetic of the world of Harry Potter and it was a delight to explore the nooks and crannies of their quaint shop. And of course, I had to treat myself to a little something…
